big day yesterday

this week has been pretty unusual, hopp has been having to do breathing treatments. she had RSV at 2mths old & she has had lung issues every since especially during allergy seasons.  it's not terrible but enough to cause her to have the treatments.  she is so use to doing them she never throws a fit & just sits patiently & gets them done.  i have been having her sing while doing them & this helps intake more, or i would think anyways.  we will have lung issues for about 5yrs & then they will either go away or she will end up with asthma.  RSV is no joke!  i'm hoping she grows out of it but expecting different.  i thought i would share a pic of her taking a treatment.  i'm not too fond of posting nekid pics of toddlers but she has everything covered so this is why i'm posting this particular one.  :)

so sweet!!!  look at that little belly :)  she likes to jump on that trampoline when not taking a treatment

so yesterday was a REALLY BIG DAY for my little q!  we started the day off at the hospital for a scheduled EGD scope procedure.  as most of you know, she was diagnosed with Celiac's a month after i was.  she has been so good about eating the correct foods.  she struggles with her addiction to pizza but i'm determined to find a good gf pizza crust!  i will find that perfect crust one day & my little q will get her pizza fix!  :)  she is so good at this new lifestyle adjustment that she puts me to shame on eating habits.

here's the timeline on the hospital visit:
she looked so cute, her little ears stick out just a tad & they are so cute!  i told her she looked like a little elf.  she loved it!  in this pic we were waiting to do paperwork & then to be called back to get her ready.

they told me she could bring something to take back with her so she chose her my little pony to go with us.  the things on the legs are those silicone bands that once you use them they are too stretched out to use again.  she kept saying that it's name was balloony, i think the real name is cheery or something like that.

my big girls!  jess was so sweet with q, she was really worried about q getting the scope done.

i think we are still a little high.  :)  she asked the nurse when she got the iv, she was asleep when they put it in.  this is the first time in 4x that she has been under anesthesia that she was not the mad drunk.  she was in a good mood & was relaxed...  until they were starting to take out the iv.  she asked if she could take it home still intact so they wouldn't touch it.  it was so sad that she was more scared about getting it out than it really hurting.

it was so cute & a little embarrassing, my MIL always does the girl's toes when they spend the night on saturdays & this time they were painted white with little red polka dots.  well the slip-ons she wore made her feet dirty (that's the embarrassing part), the nurse loved them so much she had every nurse that was in the outpatient recovery area come look at her toes!  they all oohed & awed over q, i think it helped a whole lot when it came time to take her back.  she didn't even realize that i was not going with her.  when i left i looked at her & she was just chatting away with one of the nurses.  i know they have lots experience with kiddos & luckily this was a great bunch of nurses!

oh & i guess my MIL was talking to her about the procedure this past weekend & q kept telling me that they were going to check to see if she had a pocket.  omg that made me laugh, what a great way to help ease the fears.  so we talked a little about the 'pocket' they were going to check out.  i asked her what she thought was going to be in the 'pocket' & she said she didn't know, i told her maybe it would have giggles in it!  we all laughed about it.  :)  well, i got some pics of the 'pocket' & guess what?!?  she had bubbles, they looked like the bubbles you blow, in her 'pocket'.  :)  i forgot to take a pic of the pocket of bubbles but i will try to remember to add them later or would that be too gross?  anywho, there was no damage!  apparently when you are young, damage from celiac's can be healed in a matter of a couple of months!  this is great news!

around noon i took jess to ahs & dropped her off to do her school stuff.  she had to do her student id, get her books for home (they don't have lockers so they get a set of books for the home & there is a set for them in the classroom) & then got her schedule.  that's the one good thing about high school.  you let them take care of all that.  :)

then, last night we had meet the teacher night.  :)  my lil q will be in kindergarten starting on monday!  (so bittersweet, you want them to grow & be smart & funny & have lots of friends & have a great life but then you think about them as your babies & you never want them to grow up)  her teacher's name is Ms Williams, she is young & sweet & i think this is going to be an awesome year!  she is so excited!  we went & got supplies last night after we got the list & she was so excited about all the new stuff.  i will set everything out & take a pic of all the new school stuff & then post pics of Monday next week.  she is all into hello kitty & tangled.  :)

so since i didn't get any pics of last night at MTT, i remembered i had this pic from last sunday, so i thought i would leave you with this sweet little pic of my hopp...

what an angel!  i just love a sleeping baby!  :)

tgifof!!!

http://tamisamis.blogspot.com/

hi all, i hope this week has been good to you & that the weekend is even better for you!  :)  head on over to tami's ami's to check out all the coolest handmade stuffs!

the first thing i got done this week was a headband.  it was a special request & i must say i will be making more of these.  not only was it really easy but i can think of lots of different options on colors & flowers.  :)
this it "standing" up facing front, like my props?  yarn, hook, junie b jones book....  hehehehe

grey headband with yellow buttons, so CUTE!!!

so then i was asked to make a slouchy for a friend & i found the super cute gumdrop slouchy from gleeful things & it turned out so cute!!!  it's actually kinda reversible because i worked in BLO (back loops only) & so it gave the lined appearance on one side & then if you flip it inside out it looks normal.  :)  i love julie's stuff on gleeful things, check her out.  :)  i love the colors of the yarn but it would have been nicer if redheart made their regular stuff just a teensy bit softer!  the band was made with my fave, hobb lobb's i love this yarn.  :)
BLO side

non-BLO side :)  it would not cooperate so in laying flat this way so i had to fold it to get this pic.

another 2011 resolution

i'm going to get out my machine!!!!  i originally wanted my machine so that i could make little snugglies & sew a satiny back to it but i have soooo many other things i want to do too.  :)  i think i will get some practice stuff in first before i ruin one of my crochet items.

do any of you fine ladies, that read my junk, sew?  i need to contact our machine shop in town to find out when their next class is so i can attend one.  i would like to know what your must-haves are when you are sewing.  i'm about to cash in my swagbucks for some amazon giftcards & that is what i'm buying with them, all sewing stuffs.  so if there are a particular pair of scissor or other kind of accessory you think is a must have let me know.  also if you have an item that i shouldn't waste my money on that would be awesome too!  :)

here are some things i found i put on my pinterest that i want to try with my machine...

movies i've watched the last couple of days

we rented Hall Pass the other night & it was pretty funny.  it's about two guys that get a 'hall pass' to be out of their marriage to do whatever they want.  i don't really like owen wilson but his character was decent this time around.  jason sudekis is great & the british guy with the glasses is HILARIOUS!  they should have had more scenes with him in them.  it's definitely one of those movies you catch every once in a while on one of those movie channels & watch it & something new happens or it gets funnier each time you watch.  :)  this is a great movie to watch so go check it out.
Hall Pass

then on saturday we watched Kung Fu Panda 2 at the dirtiest theatre in town but it's only $1.75 per person.  however, i didn't really care for this movie.  it should have been funnier!  it was worth the price but i should have just rented it through redbox instead.  kfp2 is about po learning about where he really came & learning how to get his 'inner peace'.  i thought for sure hopp would have liked it but i wrestled with her most of the movie to get her to pay attention.  i think that q & jess both enjoyed it though.  this is a renter!
Kung Fu Panda 2
i also watched a documentary the other day called Good Hair.  it was good & had lots of funny parts because chris rock is the narrator & the interviewer.  i think he produced it too.  it was really sad to see how they do the indian (middle east not american indian) hair trade!  i was also FLOORED when i found out how much it cost to get a weave!  $1000 in some places & that's the cheapest to get!!!!  i flip out when i think about paying more than $20!!  the hair show cracked me up!  check out those boots that one guy wears, i can't remember his name it's derek j or something like that.  they have lots of famous black women movie stars & singers that he interviews.  this is definitely something to watch!  one of the funniest scenes is when he is in a barber shop talking about touching black women's hair.  :D  so check it out, i think hbo is showing it right now.

i didn't want to wait on fo friday!!! :D

ok, i have a super sweet show off moment!!!  my super sweet friend Neely, is trying her hand at photography & asked me to make her a cocoon.  i had made one not too back (before she even asked me for one) & wasn't for sure if the size was correct so i sent it to her.  that was back a month or two ago & on friday she sent me these pics...

look at that sweet little hand on his cheek!

how cute is this?!?!? go away baby fever, go away!!! isn't he too sweet?  his name is Klyce, pronounce ka-lice.  i love his name, so different!  you know i have to like the unusual name if i name my own kiddo Hopper.  :D  i also like that she added the blue receiving blanket.  i see the cute naked baby ones in the cocoons but this is a nice little touch.  so if you live in atlanta & you want some pics done holla at me & i will hook you up.  :)

oh & btw, Neely is mommy to little miss Emerson i have featured in some of my crochet pics.  Emerson is also my baby model for my etsy page avatar.  :)

i want to make a granny blanket for my room

i guess you could call this a 2011 resolution...  i want a granny blanket for my bedroom for when it starts getting cold, hopefully we will get some type of winter this year.  i love the gypsy caravan blanket, my friend alice {hehehehe, she is not really my friend, she doesn't even know i exist but i love her stuff & pretend that she is my friend ;) }, made not too long ago.  it's GORGEOUS!!!!  check out the link, i don't want to steal her pics because that wouldn't be nice, i will share mine when i do one.  :)  there is one thing i'm concerned about...  what yarn should i use?  i don't want it to get fuzzy & i will eventually need to wash it so i need it to hold up good.  i don't mind buying more expensive yarn if i have to since i will be wanting to keep it FOREVER!!!  i made my MIL's blanket, my first big project, out of redheart but i want it to be soft.  i still need to post a pic of that, we called it the shaq scarf when i first started making it.  i made it as long as a king size bed is wide & it's about the width of a twin bed.  i have a king size bed so this is going to be quite the project but i know when you start making the squares they turn out fast, i'm just dreading the hiding the end pieces from changing colors, i think that's my most hated thing about crochet, well that & the assembly stuff.  luckily you can assemble the squares as you go if you wish.  i will definitely take her advice & hide my ends as i go.  :)

so all you crochet gurus, what yarn would you use?  my preferred brand of yarn is hobb lobb's i love this yarn & i like the loops & threads stuff from michaels.  do you think these are good brands for a well used item?  like i said i want it to stand up to wear & tear & i don't want fuzzies tickling my nose at night.  :D  i think i might start on it soon, maybe tonight so it's ready by winter.

hope everyone had a great weekend!  i will post about the weekend later.  :D

check it out!!!

i get these great comments from this lovely lady that goes by CrochetBlogger & this is her site.  she does this great blog called hooked together were she finds all these fabulous 'hookers' so we can all find each other.  so if you like to crochet or look at cool crochet stuffs check it out!

the super cool part is that she mentioned me on her crochet blogroll!  yes!!! this is awesome!!!  this is the link to her hooked together blogroll with my link, i'm #7 on her list & the lady that she featured kathleen from a surprise everytime, has this super cute owl pattern she is about to do a tute on!  it's so cute, ::crossing fingers she chooses me to test her pattern::   ;o)

i'm so loving this online c/k/c (crochet/knit/craft) community :D

UGH! why do i even care?!?

why do i let a show get to me?  i love reality shows but i really DISLIKE all the fake people & then you have the worst category of people ever on there... BULLIES!!

i have been watching big brother (bb) & they just let one of the previous evicted peeps back to fight for a chance to get back in the house.  lawon is such a non-player & they voted him out but they should have made ugly-ass rachel get kicked to the curb!  do you remember how much i described you how much i dislike her?  anywho her man got kicked out of the house the previous one before lawon & he was picked by fans to come back!!!!  WHAT?!?  are you kidding me?  do you remember how much of a bully he was in telling people what they were going to do?  it would have been a better game had rachel been evicted & she had to fight for a chance to win against her man to see if she would have played or just let him win!  we don't need these two back in the house!!!  please tell me none of my friends (carissa & candi, i'm calling you out!) voted for him to come back!  i didn't vote but i thought for sure it would have been dominic coming back!

again, why do i even care?  i may not watch anymore & just watch after dark on showtime, it's the bb version that is better anyway.  it's uncensored & they are more real on there.

well here's to hoping the newbies actually band together & kick those 2 out of the house!!  :D

tgifof!!!

lots of stuff to show you that i have talked about & one final showing of what the blanket really looks like.  i did kimberly's baby blanket awhile back & wasn't for sure if she was reading my blog so i had to change the coloring in photoshop so she didn't see the real colors.  :)  i also made some stuff for prizes for her shower this weekend but actually didn't have to give them away because no one showed but one other person which is her cousin (my husbands aunt) so we didn't play any games.  i may just put them on my etsy site & sell it with a hot pad i'm working on.  :)  so without further ado here is all my purdy stuffs.  :)

yellow/pink is kimberly's finished blanket

look what i can do...  coffee sleeve corset!!!  i still have some tweaking to do but it turned out pretty good :)

my apron, this was going to be the big prize.  glad i went with the bright blue to outline the grannies :)

first washcloth, in the same pattern as the baby blanket

made 3 of them for her.  :)

put a bow around them & they are so pretty like this.  i will definitely be making more of these as baby gifts! :)
the apron, corset, & washcloths were all made with lily yarn.  i love their really bright colors & it works up beautifully  :)

a little funny: she is a first time mommy and doesn't know much about brand new babies so when we started talking about the umbilical cord still being attached as a stump & that it has to fall off on it's own & you can't get it wet, etc, etc.  her eyes got huge & it was so funny/cute.  i told her if she ever had questions to call & i would help her out.  she said, "i'll just drop her off".  :)  ok, fine with me, i can give her back for night feedings.  :)

happy fof day everyone, looking forward to seeing everyone's stuff today!

i wanna do a crochet swap, does anyone know of one that is about to start?

i always see people doing some kind of crochet swap rather it be a potholder or granny squares or whatever.  i want to do one.  anyone have any knowledge of where to go to join a swap?  i tried looking on ravelry for one but i really only know how to check my messages & look at patterns.  :)

anyone want to start-up/participate in one with me? :D
